Good local NYC volunteer opps in TimeOutNY

December 10, 2008

I don’t usually pass along lists of places to volunteer because I don’t see them as generic and not necessarily inspiring action.  An exception: the Volunteering short list published in this month’s TimeOutNY mag. First, I like that this list of well-edited opportunities are listed according to reader interests like “runing” or “crafting.”  I also like that the list includes a variety of suggestions you don’t often see (Red Cross excepted). I love City Harvest and NYCares but chances are, you already know about those organizations.  Last, I think the locations — mostly in the 20’s-40’s on both West and East sides — are convenient to many. If not close to where you work or live, likely an easy commute.
